Shows at Teatro Verde

The inaugural performance at Teatro Verde is 'Resurrezione e vita,' directed by Orazio Costa and staged on July 11, 1954. The music, reworked by Virgilio Mortari, features Venetian compositions from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Shortly after, Vincenzo Cassani's 'Arianna' with Benedetto Marcello's music takes the stage. Both productions are collaborations with Teatro della Fenice. In the same period, La Biennale hosts events for the 13th International Theatre Festival.

Carlo Goldoni's comedies, notably 'Le baruffe Chiosotte,' directed by Carlo Ludovici on July 31, 1954, gain prominence at Teatro Verde. International performances also shine.

This is where the first performance of Tokyo Imperial Theatre Company takes place, presenting Hajogoromo and Shojo, Noh theatre representations.

In 1958, a young Carla Fracci performs Sergei Prokofiev's ballet 'Romeo and Juliet.'

The expansive stage, measuring 56 meters in width and 210 square meters in area, entirely open-air, experiences periods of inactivity.

After a period of dormancy, collaborations in the late 90s with dancer Carolyn Carlson and the early 2000s edition of La Biennale Danza, hosting international experiences such as the Maori dancers from New Zealand, stand out.

Currently, the theatre is undergoing a significant restoration project, allowing recent reactivation of visits to this extraordinary monument."
