Chapel by Carla Juaçaba (built by Secco Sistemi)

For the Vatican Pavilion, Brazilian architect Carla Juaçaba conceived a chapel without any enclosure or walls. She utilized only four 8-meter-long steel beams with a square section of 12 centimeters. The metallic elements, positioned over a series of concrete joists, outline a bench and a cross. The stainless steel beams, mirrored, reflect everything around them, concealing the lines of the structure until they almost vanish from sight.

This project earned the architect significant recognition: the AR Emerging Architecture, a prestigious English award that supports emerging architects and designers, promoting their best work on a global scale.
